Nominated for Oscar, this Canadian Drama is an excellent alternative to Hollywood recipes. If you have time you should go to see this movie directed by Denis Villeneuve because is one of the most interesting runway ever seen on cinema.

At first we get acquainted with Canadian twins Jeanne (Melissa Désormeaux-Poulin) and Simon (Maxime Gaudette). Their mother Nawal (Lubna Azabal), who emigrated decades ago from an unnamed country in the Middle East, has just died and left a will that takes them by surprise: the two receive from the notary Lebel, also the former head of their mother two letters.

One is addressed to their father, whom they believed to be dead, the other to a brother who have never heard of. Mother’s last wish is that her two children rediscover her tense past, the years of youth in his native country, haunted by murders, torture, years in prison and stigmata society. “Death is never the end of the story,” says the wise notary, and Villeneuve will have almost two hours available to show that exactly.

However, Incendies is definitely a movie to see and you certainly will not remain indifferent as its strong sequences run.
